A building once promising
When I was driving to visit my friend in gross pointe the other day, I came across this building off of the highway. I had to take the pictures by just rolling down the window and taking them because it was a really sketchy part of Detroit and I did not want to die. I think it's important to take pictures of abandoned buildings, because although it is true that the building is not in the best shape right now, this building can be restored, and it can help to restore Detroit. It was cloudy out when i took these photographs, which made it difficult because it was not the best light in which to take them. But overall, I am pleased with the way the pictures turned out.
Blue Plan
I also took these pictures in downtown Detroit. These are the doors to a church. I drove by them, and realized that they would be good to take pictures of, so I reversed. I then realized that I was going backwards on a one way street. That was kind of scary. I found this building interesting because the exterior of the church is overall bland; just a monotone beige color worn down by pollution. Then, all of the sudden, there's this bright red door leading to the entrance of the church. This entrance way sort of struck me by surprise, because it is so different than the rest of the building.

Woodward Ave
These are pictures of the Fillmore in Downtown Detroit. I decided to photograph this building because the intricacy of the architecture, especially in between the windows, really struck me as amazing. I also thought that the letters on the letterboard would look really good on the blueprint. I was correct in this, and I'm really happy with the way that they turned out. It was difficult to take this picture because I had to take them from a moving car.

Detroit's Finest Entertainment
These pictures were taken at Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit. I really liked how the "FOX" sign was so bright, and how you can see the reflection of the sky in the windows. These pictures were also taken in a moving car, but I think they turned out pretty well. The only real difficult part was with the blueprint. This blueprint came out a lot more bluer/darker than the other blueprints, and I couldn't figure out why this happened. I feel that it makes it difficult to see a lot of the details of the building.

Art
These pictures are of the DIA in Detroit. The clouds were starting to get pretty dark around this time, therefore my pictures started getting darker as well. I like the symmetry of this building, it provides a sense of peace. I struggled a little bit with this blueprint as well. When I did the 'Find Edges' adjustment, photoshop picked up the marble lines in the granite as edges, which makes the picture look a little messy.
